Absences
Homework - if you miss class,
you are still responsible for the material covered in
the lecture and any assignment that is made. Your absence
does not change the due date of an assignment.
Exams - no makeup
examinations will be given unless an acceptable reason is
presented to the instructor before the scheduled
examination date.
Labs - if you miss lab,
you are still responsible for completing the assigned labwork
by the due date (which may be at the end of any lab period on
Wednesdays).
Due Date Policy
Homework -
all written assignments are due at the beginning of class on
the specified due date. NO LATE WRITTEN ASSIGMENTS WILL BE
ACCEPTED.
Labs - no late laboratory
assignments will be accepted for grading after a due date. This
policy will be strictly enforced (no exceptions).
494/594 Differences
Labs - the laboratory
work of students registered for CS494 will count 30% while
those registered for CS594 will have labs count 20% of their
final grade.
Presentations - students
registered for CS594 will be required to make two oral
presentations (normally no longer than 15-20 minutes) sometime
during the semester. Students may volunteer or be assigned
a presentation by the instructors during the semester.
For CS594 students, failure
to complete two presentations during the entire semester and
at least one presentation prior to the Midterm Exam
will lower their final course grade by one letter.
