Born in 1981 in Guadalajara, a city that nowadays has 8 million people, I spent my first 18 years there.

After that I went to live to Guanajuato, a quiet, colonial city with barely over 100 thousand people. Why I went to such a small place after living on a big city? Well, the reason is not because I wanted a quiet place to study or anything that romantic. Apparently, however, some Mathematics ans Computer Science researchers did think that way, because they founded the Mathematics Research Center  (CIMAT) in that city.

My Bachelors is in Math, done in a cooperative program between the University of Guanajuato and CIMAT. It is a top 5 program in Math in México, if not the best. I spent 5 long but happy years there and finally got my degree with thesis in Game Theory. I also got married about 6 months before finishing my career.

After that, and because of financial problems in my home country, I had to remain there for a whole year after being admitted for a Graduate Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Fortunately, That same year was the first year the Express Masters program was approved in CIMAT, that consisted in a full length 2-years Ms. Sc. done in only 1 year. I got my degree with a thesis in Evolutionary Algorithms.

I am currently working in a model for coalition formation and hierarchy formation in populations of animals like chimp or macaque with Dr. Vose from Computer Science and Dr. Gavrilets from Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
