5. Gallaher Bend Greenway


Description: This greenway offers a quiet, forested trail with lovely vistas of Melton Lake. Because it is on federal land, users must remain on the trail and obey all postings.
Trail surface: Gravel, with natural path around loop and short paved section before entrance.
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Handicap Access: Yes, but gravel surface inhibits wheelchair access
Distance: 4.6 miles winter, 4 miles summer (round trip)
Main Entrances: Winter -- near Clark Center Park; Summer -- northeast of Clark Center Park
Uses: Walk/jog, pets, bicycles

Map legend/rules

Beware. This area is closed for deer hunts three weekends each fall and several spring weekends for turkey hunts. (For 2008, closed dawn til noon, April 5-6 and 12-13.) For exact dates, please refer to reservation turkey hunts and deer hunts. In 2007, the gravel was extended in the field to the end of the loop.
