From 1998-1999, Dr. Trammell worked as Software Quality Assurance Manager for CTI-PET Systems, Inc., a medical device manufacturing company and the world leader in PET imaging. From 1996-1998, Dr. Trammell worked with Engineering Technology, Inc., where she directed the quality assurance program, worked as a coach on several industrial technology transfer programs, and consulted on software process improvement initiatives.
Dr. Trammell was formerly manager of SQRL, and has held software engineering and management positions in military and commercial software projects developed through Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Martin Marietta Energy Systems, and Software Engineering Technology. During the 1991-92 academic year, she taught computer science and psychology for the University of Maryland at U.S. military bases in Germany and Italy. In the 70s and early 80s, she held management development and training positions with Union Carbide, Atari, and Hewlett-Packard. She received an M.S. in Computer Science in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Psychology in 1981 from the University of Tennessee.
