The execution efficiency of lsiBackend was very similar to the efficiency of lsiQuery (see Figure 11). Like lsiQuery, lsiBackend exceeded the performance of lsiFinder while searching each of the document collections. Although lsiBackend appears slightly faster than lsiQuery for the USENET document collection, the difference is probably due to network congestion as discussed in Section 5.3.1.
