- Paul McMahan- Buddy who got me the job I worked during my last few semesters at UTK. He's a great guy with a great wife, Jennifer, and a *WONDERFUL* new baby daughter, Sofia! He's starting to recover from "Daddy Shock" and getting back into the things that get him in the most trouble…computer games.
- Charles Winston Hoover IV
- Or just "Winston". I've known this guy since grade school, and I probably have more dirt on him than anybody, including some audio tapes that he'd much rather no one heard. His wife, Sandy, has often asked to hear them...
- Sandy Hoover
- Sandy "Ra" was a friend of mine in high school who I was trying to keep away from Winston, because I thought the two of them would rip each other apart. They met, started ripping each other apart and got married. You coulda knocked me over with a feather. Sandy's a great gal who knows what she wants and goes after it. Urban legend has it that she once beat Jim Derych in an arm wrestling match.
- Jeff Horner- I had only just started enjoying this guy's company and then I went and moved. He and his family are great! His wife, Anna, runs her own clothing store, and their daughter Julianna is going to grow up to be a heartbreaker!
- John Michael Comella III
- Impressive name, huh? Winston's is pretty imposing as well. John and I have known each other since I moved to Germantown when I was 5. We virtually shared parents, and I tortured his sisters as though they were my own. John is married to Jennifer (not the same one as Paul, John and Paul have never met, not that you care) and they live in Midtown Memphis, a feat in and of itself!
- Sid Hill- Sid "The Squid" is currently interning with SGI. He could wipe this page and its contents from the face of the earth in the blink of an eye since he'r probably found a way to hold on to his sysadmin privleges whilst working at Silicon Graphics. It's really hard to bribe Sid, since he wants to become an FBI agent and work in the X-Files department. He thinks I'd blackmail him later! HA HA HA! ...wait a second...
- Jim Derych
- Fellow Germantown High School/UTK survivor. Roomed with this guy several times, and my cockatiel, Knarf, absolutely hates him. I think he made advances towards her that she felt uncomfortable rebuking, but I forgive him...(Knarf hasn't). Jim got married to his wife Becky a few months ago, and they've already got two little girls! Well, cats, but they're treated just like children…;) Jim's a good friend, but he is constantly doing things that get him written into urban legends. His friend Chris Allen has only survived by the sheerest of luck many of the ill-fated "I know! Let's...." episodes. Ask him about cleaning the skylights.
- David Carr
- My roommate when I was living in Lexington, KY working for Lexmark. David turned out to be a GREAT guy, even though I assumed he was an axe murderer because he was so nice and helpful. He's moved on to better things at Lexmark, and is now the proud owner of a home is metropolitan Nashville. David showed me that nice guys don't necessarily finish last. Knarf *likes* David.
- Heather Mazzouccolo
- I'm probably spelling that name wrong again. Heather is another GHS/UTK survivor who has not only weathered the trials and tribulations of The Fine Arts Department of GHS (as did myself, Jim Derych, and Andy Romine) but the constant "issues" of dealing with her "parental units". She and and Jim Mazzouccolo (my roommate at the time) tried to kill me by announcing their engagement while I was engrossed in writing a computer program. They got married despite the fact that Heather's name would change from Adams to Mazzouccolo. Heather is another woman who pursues what she wants until she gets it and ne'er a sharper mind have I seen when dealing with financial issues. Urban legend has it she bankrupted Jim Derych so bad in a weekend game of "Trump: The Game" that Jim vowed never to play again.
- Jim Mazzouccolo
- At least I'm consistent in the misspelling. I met this one through Jim Derych, while he was president of the UTK Fencing Club. "Mazz", as we call him, had been on campus for a while before we met him, so I regret that we didn't know him earlier. Anyway, he started wooing Heather and before you know it, he and I were living together (its not what you think). We became good friends and he taught me to never argue with a person who has a Master's degree in Philosophy. Now he's been accepted into the Doctoral program at UT. I won't even be able to breathe an opinion without him trying to make me think. Yeesh, he makes it *very* hard for me to hang on to my values/morals (he says it isn't right that I get them all from "Must See TV".) Jim and I will one day rule the Empire!
- Andy Romine
- "Drewish" led me on many a roleplaying adventure, along with Jim Derych and Chris Allen. One of the most creative people I know, Andy left his job at CNN in Atlanta to pursue his dream of doing computer animation for the television and film industry. He showed me a tape with some of his work on it and I was floored. I tend to keep things I have that Andy wrote on so I can sell them when they become valuable at trade shows!! Andy is married to Carol and lives in the mystical land of riots, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanos...LA. He was working for an effects firm called UFO. They faked the Roswell crash and the Apollo moon landings. He recently got hired on by some nobody effects house called "Netter Digital". They handle some syndicated show called Baby On High…or Baby You're Fine?…wait! I remember, Babylon 5! His name is even in the credits! YES!
- Melinda Holland
- Melinda is the epitome of "fiery red-head". The wild-child of our college group, Melinda would often exclaim "Let's go dancin'!", usually right after we had finished doing something else. Her cooking is the stuff of legend and it has nothing to do with her degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. It's a gift. She moved to Nashville to be closer to her sweetie, Dave. I miss her being in Knoxville, but this is better for her. Besides, its not like I dont have a lot of other friends who are far away!
- Mike Marcum- Mike turned me on to co-oping at Lexmark. He's been a real "Indian Guide" and a good friend. He works at Network Services here at UTK and seems to be really good at his job (though he may be bluffing). Mike is always looking out for his friends, and there's nothing better than having a friend his size in close proximity. Currently, he's guilted me into working out, which, if you know me, seems highly unlikely. He finally married Crystal (just about the nicest kindergarten teacher there is...and that's up against some pretty stiff competition--when was the last time you met a *mean* kindergarten teacher?) and they're very busy living the newlywed lifestyle and buying computer stuff.
- Nick Johnson
- Nicholas is one of the most artistic guys I know, but don't let that fool you, he looks pretty normal. When we were growing up together, he was always at one with nature, while I was thinking of new ways of exploiting the natural resources. He got married to an Oregon girl named Janice, who puts up with all the Bonsai trees he litters about the apartment. Believe it or not, Nick is a graphics designer somewhere in Oregon, and has designed entire sets of WWW pages! He probably spends as much or more time in front of a screen as I do, and yet he can go outside without flinching.
- Melanie Beasley
- Without a doubt, "Ma-Lee-Nee" has the single most interesting life of any of my friends. She's been one of my bestest chums since high school. Mel is currently working for UUNet in Washington, D.C. where she helps crash the Internet. The way she describes the job makes it appear that they pay her to keep her from causing damage. Mel's been in more relationships than I would comfortably shake a stick at, and I didn't even meet some of them before she dropped 'em. Urban legend has it that she and Jim Derych consipred to purchase the "Cham-PAIN" that Jim brought back to a party at Melanie's apartment during Memphis In May. Melanie, of course, denies the charges.
