SEARCH HELP
To enter a query, just type in a few descriptive
keywords and hit "search". That's it!
Queries
- AND / OR
"AND" and "OR" queries are supported. That is, documents containing all
the query terms are ranked highest, but documents containing any one
of your query terms are also returned. This ranking is reflected
in the percentages placed beside each document. These percentages
help you figure out result quality.
- Stopwords
The common words such as "a", "the", "of", etc. are removed from the
query before the search is begun and the search is done with the remaining
terms. Except for quotations(not implemented at present), this will
normally return documents within your area of interest.
Limitations on queries
- Stemming
Some search engines automatically expand your search, so when you type in
"accept" it searches for "acceptable", "acceptance", "accepted" , etc.
"Stemming" has not not been implemented on this search engine so if you are in doubt, try several forms of the term you wish to search on.
- Quotations
This search engine automatically prefers documents containing all of the
query terms. Not yet implemented is the ability to locate quoted phrases--that is, returning only the documents where all the query words occur as a phrase.
