Truck Swap

The Puget Sound & Pacific does not have major maintenance facilities and has been resourceful in working around this limitiation. In the summer of 1998 they exchanged trucks from PS&P 3005 and AZ&CA 3802 in the Aberdeen yard. A crane from Roglin's Equipment Company, located near the yard, provided the lift and PS&P 1001 was used to move the trucks between 3005 and 3802. Here are a few photos from that work.

A truck was removed from Puget Sound & Pacific 3005 by lifting one end of the locomotive with the large crane in the background. The truck was pushed out from under the locomotive by the workers then was transfered to a parallel track with the crane as this photo shows. Puget Sound & Pacific 1001 then pushed the truck near Arizona & California 3802.

Finally, Arizona & California 3802 was lifted with the crane while the workers pushed the 'new' truck under it. It is difficult to see in the photo, but the lift point is the coupler.
