SplitIt! is a program that I wrote because of my particular situation: I have a slow modem connection to the internet at home, and a fast connection to it from work.
Naturally, instead of spending hours downloading a file from the net at home, I would simply download it in a few minutes at work, and then take it home. That was the tricky part.
If the file I wanted to take home was several megabytes in size, then I would have to split it up into pieces small enough to fit on a floppy disk. This was a messy and time-consuming process.
So that's where SplitIt! comes in. It can split up any kind of file -- even
an application -- into pieces of whatever size you specify. Then, after you
move the pieces to wherever you need them, it can reassemble them again
automatically.
