I am thrilled to read in the Friday Memo about your new special topics class and am green with envy of the students who will get to take your course. I've been working for a genomics/proteomics company (see sig) since graduation. Being the first CS grad on staff (everyone else was life science) positioned me to help the company with problems that no one else here was qualified to solve. Some of the most fun projects I've done have been those that required knowledge I gained in your CS 580 class: I'm even considering a PhD with algorithm focus (not serious yet, though).
