My name is Xingyan, they are two characters in Chinese.(pronounced as "shing-yen").
Even many people from China have difficulty to pronounce it for the "shin" and
"shing". If you have interest on how to pronounce Chinese name, come

I am a PhD. student in the Computer Science Department at
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I am in the last stage of my doctoral degree
and hope to complete my dissertation soon. I received my Master's in Computer Science
from University of Tennessee, 2005, and my Bachelor's in Computer Engineering
from Beijing University of Posts&Telecommunications in 2001.
I once worked as a software engineer at Huawei Technologies from 2001 to 2002.
I am part of Distributed Intelligence Laboratory, at the University of Tennessee.
My research under Dr. Lynne Parker has focused on techniques to automatically detect
fault on tightly coupled multi-robot tasks. My research interests also include:
- Distributed robotic systems
- Team fault detection
- Human-Robot Interaction
- Data mining
