IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The code you will obtain is written in C, C++, and UIL(motif). It was specifically designed to execute on a SunSPARCstation running either the SunOS 4.1.3 or Solaris 5.5.1 operating system. For the compilation of C and C++ source code, both the GNU compilers gcc and g++ are used. Some knowledge of UNIX and GRASS is required for installation and testing. GRASS Version 4.1 must be present on your machine in order to test LUCAS.

The LUCAS software provided will only simulate land cover change on a small region in western North Carolina. It will not provide any relevant information for other geographical locations.

This software is not guaranteed to work on all computing platforms. Therefore, the developers are not responsible for any results obtained or not obtained from your LUCAS experience(s). However, if you encounter problems in getting LUCAS installed, please feel free to report them to lucas@cs.utk.edu.
