Okinawa, Japan 2003
This was taken on a military radio tower at the tallest point on Okinawa. The tower was 66 meters tall and we climbed all the way to the top. Had to hold on for dear life because of the wind.

It's an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, we had to visit a beach once or twice. ;)
Almaty, Kazakhstan 2006
This picture has a funny story. The day after I arrived, my host took me up into the mountains for a cookout. We decided to do a little walking around before eating... I didn't think that meant hiking to the top of a freaking mountain. Me, sea-level boy, was dying for breath by the time I reached the top. Altitude and jet-lag is not my friend...
Well the whole point of the "walk" was to see this hand-built Russian Orthodox Monastery at the top of the "hill". I can honestly say I am one of only a handful of Americans to ever set foot in this unique structure.

We had so much fun on the first cruise that we booked another one with the kids... it was 53 degrees when we got off the boat... IN THE BAHAMAS!!! Brrrrr...
