Work

My work at the Logistical Computing and Internetworking Lab (LoCI) includes aiding in the coordination of LoCI news and information to be distributed within the academic and scientific communities, and to the computing public at large, through print and Internet media.

I have a strong background in the sciences. In 2000, I completed a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University, with majors in Physics and Mathematics. While at WKU, I was actively involved in research and development at the Applied Physics Institute, as well as spending a summer doing neutron scattering experiments at ORNL's High Flux Isotope Reactor. In 2001, I was awarded a Graduate Alumni Fellowship at the University of Florida, where I spent a year doing graduate work in Physics. My experience in the sciences has granted unique insight into the needs of LoCI application users.

Play

Some favorite pastimes include hiking and wilderness camping. The Southest contains many of the prettiest natural areas in the country. A few of my favorites are:

Mammoth Cave National Park, Park City, KY
The longest recorded cave system in the world.
Red River Gorge, Daniel Boone National Forest, Stanton, KY
Canoe and whitewater on the Red River, a designated wild and
scenic river. Popular area for rock climbing.
Nantahala National Forest, Cheoah District, Robinsville, NC
Cheoah contains the Snowbird backcountry area and the Joyce
Kilmer Memorial Forest, a region of old growth forest.

Also, there are many top-notch museums and galleries in the
area which preserve the folk art and traditions of Appalachia.

Berea College Crafts, Berea, KY
Folkways Center, Dahlonega, GA
The Museum of Appalachia, Norris, TN
