FYS-129 Bridge Party: 4/24/2008
As a culminating experience for my FYS-129 class, Suzy and I hosted a
bridge party for those interested enough to come. Four brave
students -- Drew, Jake, Jennifer and Josef -- came over to the house for food and bridge.
The format was a pro-am,
with the students sitting east and south, and the "pros" (Suzy, Kevin Wilson, Brad Vander
Zanden and me --
Dave and Cindy Shepler came as we were expecting one more student, but she never
showed) sitting north and west. The movement varied the pro-am matchup every two
boards.
Here are the event pictures:

Some action at table 2: Drew, Jake, and the good professor.

Posed action at table 1: Dr. Vander Zanden, Kevin, Josef and Jennifer.

The professor and his flock.

The event winners: Drew Morales won the student pool with 7.5 matchpoints
out of 12. Suzy and Kevin tied in the pro pool with 6.5 matchpoints out of 12.
Thanks again for all who attended -- I had an excellent time, and I hope that
the students keep bridge in the back (or front) of their minds in the future!
