Guidelines for naming the contract

• If your side has 25 points or fewer, you should be in a part score. Otherwise, you should be in game.

• If you and your partner have 8 or more cards in a major suit, name that suit as trump.

• Otherwise, if you and your partner have 8 or more cards in a minor suit, and are scared of notrump, bit the minor suit.

• Otherwise, bid notrump.
