Opening leads:
- Lead the highest of touching honors:
- Otherwise, when leading from a long suit, lead fourth best.
- In a suit contract, do not lead away from an ace without the king.
In the middle of a hand, you still follow those conventions, however, in general:
- Lead low when you'd like partner to return the suit.
- Lead high when you would not like partner to return the suit.
