JICS is offering a four-day summer workshop to faculty members of natural sciences and engineering at HBCU. The objective of the workshop is to integrate principle ideas of high performance computing into undergraduate curricula of HBCU. The workshop consists of lecture presentations, discussion sessions, and hands-on laboratory exercises and illustrations.

• module 1: Introduction to Parallel Computing: Concept, Hardware, and Software
• module 2: Reminders of Computing and Programming
• module 3: Parallel Computing : A Look at the Theories and methodologies
• module 4: Examples : Integration, Inner Product, Matrix Vector product, and Matrix Multiplcation
• module 5: FORTRAN 90 and High Performace Fortran (HPF)
• module 6: Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM)
• module 7: Message Passing Interface (MPI)
• module 8: Direct Solvers for system of Linear Equations : Gaussian Elimination
• module 9: Iterative Solvers for System of Linear Equations
• module 10: Sorting and Searching Algorithms
• module 11: Applications: Monte Carlo Simulations, Simulated Annealing, Molecular Dynamics, Nearest Body Problem, Fast Fourier Transform, Image Processing, Performance Tuning, etc..
• Why : JICS will offer supporting grants to a number of faculty members from HBCUs who are genuinely interested in bringing HPC to their teaching curricula.
