The Destiny Blade
Forged: Gods? |
Abilities The sword is intelligent (17?) and generally
supports the cause of law and good. It was
designed and intended to deal with demons/devils
and their minions. ( This was how it was used in
the campaign we played.)
The sword is telepathic with its wielder though
its general attitude is to remain silent.
* The statistics in brackets above apply when the sword is wielded by a fighter with an intelligence of 18+. The key special ability of the sword is to fire (as in missile weapon) the two secondary blades. The sword is simply aimed in the direction desired and told to fire. They will fly in a straight line unless the weapon is wielded by a character of intelligence 18+ in which case the blades can be mentally guided to their target. To be wielded at full effectiveness the character must have 18/00+ strength. An intelligence of 18+ is required to utilize the advanced features of the blade and doubles(*) the effectiveness with which the weapon is wielded. The blade was a Destiny gift to a young Barbarian (fighter) (Note: AD&D first edition (before UA) circa 1980-81) Although of rather low initial intelligence (7) his destiny (after much adventuring) was to find a pool of magic where his mind was fully opened (INT raised to 18) and his destiny set before him. The group of characters (each of whom had found a "destiny gift" of some kind) then proceeded to defeat an invasion of the land by Hell's minions. (The characters were of 10-12th level at this point) This sword is loosely based on that in the movie the Sword and the Sorcerer (?). (I'm not absolutely certain). Example of damage range assuming 3 hits: 3*((4d10+4) + 6) = 42 to 150 HP of damage. (when wielded by a character with 18/00 strength and 18 intelligence) |
